Whenever you’re doing any mental reprogramming work like affirmations or visualization, it’s going to be much more effective if you can first get yourself into a very relaxed state both physically and mentally.
Having a relaxed state of mind and body makes it much easier to program your subconscious mind
There are 4 general states of mental activity…
- Delta = Deep sleep
- Theta = Drowsiness
- Alpha = Relaxed but alert
- Beta = Highly alert and focused
Most of us spend our days stuck in the Beta state. For the majority of the tasks that we perform on a daily basis, this state works well. But it doesn’t work very well when we’re trying to change our thinking patterns or imprint new ideas on our subconscious mind.
When your brain is in an Alpha state, it opens up a doorway to your subconscious mind. This doorway allows your affirmations and visualizations to sink in much better then if you work at the Beta level.
Take a few minutes to purposefully relax and do some deep breathing before you begin your mental reprogramming. You’ll see better results in a shorter period of time.
